John O'Groats

Yesterday was a big driving day through spectacular scenery. I really wanted to visit John O'Groats which is the most northerly settled point of the UK. I have been to Lands End , the most southerly point , so now have done both ...another tick on the bucket list!
Dunnet Head is actually the most northerly point. We went to have a look and the scenery was spectacular, lots of heather, unfortunately it bucketed down with rain so only one photo.
West of John O'Groats we passed the Castle of Mey . This was bought and renovated by the Queen Mum after King George VI died. This turned out to be very interesting and presented really well.
Sunny spells predicted for today so its a walking day. I bought waterproof over pants yesterday so we are prepared.

you can just see the Orkney Islands in the distance.
